  1. Hello there, I love this blanket! I'd love to do one for my baby boy, cot size. Would you know roughly how much yarn I would need to order for this? I am looking to use a worsted weight cotton that is 190 yards to a 100g skein. Also, how wide is your blanket with the 178 starting chain?

    1. Hello! Thank you for stopping in. I guess I left some important details off of the pattern! So what you want to use is close to the "I love this cotton" brand from Hobby Lobby. It is 180 yards to a 100g skein. But here's the thing, I had a bunch on hand, because I collect when they go on sale and I don't know the exact amount I've used. I will have to pay attention! I bet if you order 4 skeins per color you'd have enough. But order extra white if you plan on alternating the white in between each color. I can tell you that with the starting chain of 178, the blanket is measuring approx 26 inches wide. I plan on adding a border to get it to about 30 inches wide. Good luck! I hope it works out for you!

  2. I'm starting mine this weekend, can't wait to see how it turns out! I will post pictures and tag you for sure. I also shared your link with my Stitch and Bitch group and I think one of the girls is also going to make one :) She promised to credit and tag you when finished. One question I have, how many rows is your blanket and what are the approximate final measurements? I have 4 skeins of pink and grey that I'm going to use doing 6 rows of each color, then 3 of white (because that was all they had left at my store) so I plan to do 3 rows of white between the pink and grey stripes. We shall see how it turns out. Just trying to do some final planning. Thanks again for sharing this great pattern. Love following your blog and on Instagram.

    1. Meg, Thank you for following along on insta! Chaining 178 left me about 26 inches across. I added five or six rows of sc around the whole blanket to make it 30 inches. I like a 30x30 baby blanket size so if you atleast make it that big you'll be fine. I hope this pattern works for you! I'm new at writing down what I've done so I really hope it works. But let me know if I need to clarify the pattern further. I can't wait to see!!! Say hi to your friend to. Sounds like you have an awesome fun group.

  3. I have a question what's the multiples that it needs to be in. I want to make an adult sized using this pattern and what would be like a full sized width for an adult if that makes sense

  5. I have a question about this pattern. In row 2 after the first 12 sc should there be an extra sc before the 3sc? I've started this blanket over twice and my peaks are off by one to the right with each new row. Please help! Thanks

  6. I'm having trouble in the third row. The first two after some reworking and focused counting ended up exact with your pattern. But I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong on the third row. At the end of the 3rd row I have an extra stitch. Should I just stitch three together instead of two together at the end of that row?

    1. Without looking at your work, it would be hard for me to say. I'm wondering if you are sc2tog the proper last two stitches? Maybe it's confusing to tell the difference between the turning chain? The sc2tog should be worked in one sc from previous row and the sc2tog from previous row, not the turning ch. That's the only thing I can think of that is getting you confused. I hope that helps. Thank you for asking a question and giving the pattern a try!

  7. I'm working on this blanket right now. I don't understand the point of the sc2tog at each end and especially if they are worked in one sc in the prior row-as you mention above. I've worked the sc2tog in two sc from previous row but get an edge that angles in and not a straight edge.

  8. HI there! hmmm, maybe keep doing some rows and you'll see that they are in fact straight? There are many many ways to turn a chevron. Some patterns I think have you skip a sc at the end instead of sc2tog. It's preference really. Do a sample of just one repeat and see if you can practice enough instead of committing to a long chain and then being frustrated that it's not working out? Sometimes that can be helpful to me when I am trying a new pattern for the first time. Good luck! Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Hi I was wondering if you would be willing to post an overall finished product of the blanket? I'm a beginner crocheter and I just have a few "dumb" questions that could be answered with a simple picture of the finished product. Thanks!

  11. Hi there. When you chain 175, how many ripples should you end up with?

  12. Hi Tiffany, you mentioned that you would be adding a border in an earlier post. Is it possible to include a picture with instructions. Thank you!

  13. I love this pattern, but I'm little bit confused about your instructions for Row 2. So you said to: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in the next 12, sc, 3 sc in next sc.

You said to sc in the next 12 chains and then to sc again? So, wouldn't that be 13? Or is that "sc" after the 12 a typo? Please let me know! I want to make sure I'm making it correctly. Thanks!!

    1. Yes typo!! Wow I can't believe you're the first to notice. Thank you!! I will edit. I hope you are successful in making this! It is so beautiful finished. I think I'm going to make another to test my pattern again.

  14. Hi, thanks for the pattern! Quick question for you. You only go up to row 4. I understand all the rows are the same after that but how many rows total should i have once the blanket it completed?

  15. Hello! I'm VERY new to crochet and pattern reading. What does sc2tog mean? Also after reading through all the comments I'm still confused if the starting chain should be 178 like the pattern said or 175 as mentioned in some comments? Thanks!

    1. hello there! I'm sorry for the late reply, sometimes I don't see the comments. I'm so sorry for the confusion about the number of stitches for the base chain. It is 178. I will be going back through and eliminating the confusing comments. What you really need to know is that each peak is a pattern repeat of 29. So if you want to make a baby blanket with 6 peaks, chain 29 x 6 which equals 175, but then you add three and thats puts you at 178. But since you are very new to crochet, I'd like to suggest that you do a practice chain of 29 x 2 (58) then add 3. You really want to get the hang of turning and such. A sc2tog means you are single crocheting 2 stitches together to become one. So, what that means is, you'll take your hook and insert it into the stitch and pull up a loop, then insert your hook into the next stitch and pull up a loop. Then yarn over and pull through all the loops on your hook. The stitch is made. I hope that helps you to get started!

  16. Hello, I am just starting this blanket and I have had to start over a few times. My edges are not coming out straight. It's at an angle. Is this suppose to be like this?? Did you add a border to the baby blanket??

  17. Hi I'm so close to giving up on this pattern I've pulled it out close to 4 times and started three separate yarns on this pattern, two of which have about 3-4 rows, and I'm just about to give up... At the end of the first two of my 178 chain, which I counted about 10 times, I am left with three chains. The problem with this is that this is after 13 sc, and normally those three chains would be used in the "dip" part (sk 2, sc in 13 chains). But if I do the sc2tog then I'm left with one chain. This has happened twice now and I have no idea what I'm missing or what should be happening at the end of the first row. Please help me because this is meant to be a gift for my host sister in Japan and I literally can't find patterns as nice as this one... I know it says that in the last two sc I must do the sc2tog but I literally can't see how this should happen because at the point of this chain is the sk 2... I'm so so confused and disappointed can you please help me?

    1. Further to this it looks as though I have a chunk missing after starting row 2

    2. Hi Jizzy! Don't give up! A commenter below noticed a incorrect math calculation and it might help you out. So if you want to make this blanket with six ripples, chain 177. Because 29 x 6 = 174. Then add three. 177. 178 gives you an extra chain. I hope that helps!!

  18. Hi there I'm trying to make this amazing blanket however at the ene if row 1 Im not sure what ch 6 ripple is? I tried to google it but that didn't help. Thank you!

    1. It is just telling you that the length will make 6 ripples. It's not a stitch.

  19. I recently did the sample you suggested in another comment. I did 29 stitches twice and added three, and then completed rows two through four. It came out perfect. However when I do the base chain of 178 I'm afraid I'll end up with an extra stitch. 29 x 6 is 174 +3 would be 177 stitches. Just want to verify the correct number in the base chain. Thanks!

    1. Ahhh!! You're so right! I've done this math a hundred times and never caught the mistake! Math is not my friend. Maybe that is why so many are confused. Thank you for catching the mistake. I will edit the post. Chevrons are the trickiest to get the counting right on!
